FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 13, 2021
Today, the Georgia House Democratic Caucus (GHDC) announced the hiring of Teddy Smyth as Executive Director. Smyth will oversee the administration and strategic plan of the Caucus ahead of the 2022 elections.
Hiring an Executive Director is the latest step in the Caucus’s plan to grow its membership and ensure every Georgian has access to good healthcare, a strong education, and economic opportunity. Smyth has extensive experience in Democratic politics, previously overseeing the Biden-Harris campaign’s Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts in Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida that helped drive record-breaking turnout of Democratic voters in 2020.
“The Georgia House Democratic Caucus welcomes Teddy as our new Executive Director. He brings a wealth of campaign experience to elect House Democrats across the state and move Georgia forward,” said House Minority Leader, James Beverly (District 143- Macon). “The political tide is turning in Georgia. We are excited for Teddy to manage our campaign to earn support across the state and grow the Democratic Caucus.”
“I am honored to work with Leader Beverly and the members of the Democratic Caucus. This is a crucial moment to work with our legislators as the political landscape continues to change in our state,“ said Smyth. “Georgia is my home and I look forward to working with the Caucus to expand our membership and ensure opportunities for all Georgians.”
Smyth has also worked on local and national campaigns in Georgia and across the country, including as Deputy Campaign Manager for former Councilwoman Natalyn Archibong in Atlanta, National Distributed Organizing Director for Senator Cory Booker’s presidential campaign, and as Campaign Manager for Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy’s election to the House of Delegates in Virginia.
