Finance Director

The Georgia House Democratic Campaign Committee (GA HDCC) is seeking an experienced and dedicated individual for the position of Finance Director for the 2022 campaign cycle. This is a senior-level position, reporting to the Executive Director and working in conjunction with the House Democratic Leader and the leadership team.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience as a finance staffer with legislative, statewide, or national campaigns, political groups, or non-profits. Experience fundraising in Georgia and/or on behalf of a targeted legislative campaign or federal campaign caucus committee is preferred.

 

About the Finance Director role:

 

The Finance Director will play a key leadership role in building a sustainable fundraising operation that will position GA HDCC to compete in 2022 and beyond. They will be charged with developing and executing the 2022 Caucus finance plan, hiring and optimizing the performance of department staff. They should be forward-thinking, strategic-driven, and skilled in managing multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining keen attention to detail.  This position reports directly to the Executive Director and collaborates with the House Democratic Leadership team.
 

Essential Job Functions:
 

  • Develop and lead the execution of a fundraising plan; including soliciting $5,000+ contributions and implementing a fundraising and cashflow calendar that encompasses all revenue streams;
     

  • Hire and manage a team of finance staff and consultants, as relevant; including executing related tracking and reporting to monitor  progress towards goals;
     

  • Work with current compliance structure to oversee campaign fundraising compliance programs and systems;
     

  • Develop and manage strategies geared towards developing HDCC’s donor network as it relates to research, acquisition, onboarding, cultivation/engagement, and retention from existing donors as well those acquired via all methods, especially digital;

 

  • Build and maintain systems for call-time, donor follow-up, and re-solicitation by the House Democratic Leader and the broader leadership team;
     

  • Mentor candidates and staff for targeted districts in effective fundraising strategies; including rolodexing, call-time, and event management; and,
     

  • Update the Executive Director, Leadership Team, Compliance Consultants, and relevant stakeholders on revenue streams, cash flow, and projections;
     

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-2 cycles of finance experience, including at least one cycle as a Finance Director or Deputy Finance Director for a targeted legislative campaign, statewide campaign, or legislative caucus committee;
     

  • Effective people manager who is able to engage and motivate candidates and staff;

 

  • Strategic thinker with a collaborative approach to problem-solving;

 

  • Organized and self-motivated, with strong attention to detail;
     

  • Able to perform in a deadline-driven environment;
     

  • Ability to be flexible in dynamic situations and help build a lasting campaign committee infrastructure; and,
     

  • Proven ability to direct campaign fundraising efforts.

 

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience managing staff with a demonstrated willingness to empower and support staff to be leaders in their own right;
     

  • Experience building a large-or significantly scaling a nascent fundraising operation

Salary and Benefits:

The salary for the Finance Director position is $60,000-$78,000 on an annualized basis and is negotiable, commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Communications Director

The Georgia House Democratic Campaign Committee (GA HDCC) is seeking an experienced and dedicated individual for the position of Communications Director for the 2022 campaign cycle. This is a senior-level position, reporting to the Executive Director and working in conjunction with the House Democratic Leader and the leadership team.
 
The ideal candidate will have experience as a communications staffer with statewide or national campaigns, political groups, legislative campaigns, or non-profits. Experience working with press in Georgia and/or on behalf of a targeted legislative campaign, federal campaign, or caucus committee is preferred.

 

About the Communications Director role:

 

The Communications Director will play a key leadership role in developing and executing communications strategy for the Georgia House Democratic Caucus. The Communications Director will work closely with Caucus Leadership, Caucus Members, candidates, and staff to identify opportunities for candidates and members to leverage political moments and execute a communications plan to defend incumbents and win seats in the House. An ideal candidate will need to be forward-thinking, detail-oriented, have experience in political communications, and have the ability to develop and execute communications strategy for a diverse group of candidates.

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Generating earned media and tracking GHDC press coverage:

    • Sending out multiple press releases per week,

    • Responding to press inquiries in a timely manner,

    • Building 1:1 relationships with reporters, and 

    • Pulling daily clips and tracking all coverage of GHDC and members.

 

  • Building the narrative of the GHDC:

    • ​Tracking the current political narrative of Georgia and identifying moments for earned media,

    • Leading the creation of the GHDC message and supporting materials,

    • Crafting the public narrative of the GHDC; Identifying story opportunities and moments where GHDC can gain attention.

  • Producing and posting GHDC social media and email content:

    • Identifying moments for social media posts and capitalizing on them, 

    • Tracking and amplifying member content across social media channels,

    • Producing publish-ready content for all channels,

    • Copy-editing all materials and ensuring all outbound content meets the standards of GHDC and Leadership, 

    • Creating and maintaining a GHDC Style Guide, and

    • Collaborating with the GHDC Finance Director and vendors to produce an email calendar and email copy. 

 

  • Supporting the communication efforts of GHDC Members and challengers:

    • Working directly with members to grow their earned media and social presence,

    • Providing template materials, coverage leads, and sample content for Members to earn media and stay on message,

    • Highlighting and amplifying quality earned media and social content from members,

    • Developing and executing a Communications plan, in collaboration with the Executive Director, to protect the seats of current House Democrats and work to grow the membership of the Caucus,

    • Creating and implementing a strategy to provide Communications support to incumbent and challenger campaigns across Georgia,

    • Providing Communications support to incumbents and challengers, including

      • Helping campaigns implement effective communications practices, 

      • Assisting campaigns in the hiring of qualified Communications staff, 

      • Setting up structures of communication between campaigns and the Caucus, and

      • Joining weekly conference calls with campaigns, Caucus staff, and consultants, as needed, to assist with earned media plans and messaging.

      • Building systems to track and manage communications goals. 

      • Briefing Members, partner groups, and donors on campaigns and activities.​​

  • And other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. 
     

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum one to two years of experience in political, corporate, or agency communications;

  • Self-starter with the ability to show strong organizational and planning skills while working long hours in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment;

  • Strong written and oral communication skills;

  • Effective people manager who is able to engage and motivate candidates and staff;

  • Strong understanding of political environment and political communications best practices;

  • Experience managing social media accounts;

  • Experience drafting and sending press releases, on-the-record media relations experience preferred but not required;

  • Strategic thinker with a collaborative approach to problem-solving;

  • Organized and self-motivated, with strong attention to detail;

  • Able to perform in a deadline-driven environment; and,

  • Ability to be flexible in dynamic situations and help build a lasting campaign committee infrastructure.

  • Experience with website design, Canva, email CRMs, and/or graphic design preferred;
